LIGHTWORKS COLLECTIVE

Expanding opportunity through education, access to the performing arts, and creative workforce development.

About Us

LightWorks Collective is the next chapter in our organization’s evolution.
We began as a pioneering self‑directed learning center in Holyoke, MA in 2015, originally known as LightHouse Personalized Education for Teens. At the time, we imagined opening multiple LightHouse sites — but not running performance venues, training creative technicians, hosting a commercial kitchen, all kinds of events, a pop-up restaurant...

Over time, our scope and impact has grown. In 2022, LightHouse Holyoke became an accredited school — a milestone not part of our original plan — and our work has continued to expand beyond non-traditional education. Today, as LightWorks Collective, we are a nonprofit hub for education, the performing arts, and creative workforce development.

Our initiatives range from empowering youth in alternative education to presenting live performances, training in the technical arts, developing community maker spaces, and supporting wellness and resilience. LightWorks Collective is a constellation of initiatives — with LightHouse Holyoke as one shining star among many. This new structure reflects the breadth of our impact and opens doors for new partnerships, funding opportunities, and deeper community engagement.

We bring together learning, creativity, and opportunity in ways that transform both individuals and communities.

Current Projects

LightHouse Holyoke

A pioneering self‑directed high school where young people are supported to design their own education, develop confidence, and prepare for a future of their own making. LightHouse provides a supportive, flexible, and empowering learning environment for middle and high school students seeking a new way to school.

De la Luz / De la Luz Technical Arts Institute

Our performance and training hub. De la Luz Soundstage and Divine Theater bring live music, dance, and cultural performance to the community, making the arts accessible to all. Through the Technical Arts Institute, youth and young adults gain hands‑on skills in sound engineering, stage lighting, set design, and other creative technical trades — building career‑ready skills in a vibrant, professional environment.

Projects in Development

LightWorks Community Maker Space

A shared space for hands‑on creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship. From woodworking to digital design, the Maker Space will be a resource for artists, inventors, and small‑business dreamers to bring ideas to life.

Center for Resilience – Adolescent & Family Therapy

A mental health and wellness center offering therapy, resilience training, and healing arts for youth and families. The Center will integrate creative practices with therapeutic support to build emotional strength, connection, and long‑term wellbeing.

Why We Do It

We believe in a future where access, creativity, and opportunity are not privileges — but rights.
By blending education, arts access, and workforce training, we help individuals gain the skills, confidence, and community connections they need to thrive — while strengthening the cultural and economic life of our region.
